Manufacturer's Warranty and Liability

Television Products
On behalf of the supplier UMC Poland Sp. z.o.o., UMC (UK) guarantees that any television products are not defective when sold. If the product becomes defective within 12 months from your date of purchase, we will provide user guidance and operational support as necessary. Should a repair be required, we will repair or exchange the product, at our own discretion, free of charge. Should options to fix the customer issue be exhausted, we reserve the right to refer the customer back to their reseller for a resolution.

The warranty periods apply from the first date of purchase of the product. To obtain warranty service, the original proof of purchase will be required and the serial number affixed to the product must be complete and undamaged. The original sales receipt or invoice clearly showing the reseller name, item purchased, date of sale and price. The date of purchase must be stated legibly, without deletions or changes. We are unable to accept credit card or bank statements as these do not specify the product purchased

A warranty does not apply if the product type or serial number or date of its production has been altered, deleted, removed or is illegible.

For television screen sizes up to 50 inches we run a collect, repair and return process. This means the item will be collected by our nominated carrier, returned to us, repaired, then returned back to yourself.

For sets of screen sizes of 51 inches and above, we use a repair network to carry out on-site service.

Note that in ROI all screen sizes are covered by an on-site service facility.

We will usually replace any defective part, however, if we believe we cannot offer a permanent repair of the faulty item, we may exchange it like for like or advise the customer to discuss a refund/replacement with their reseller. In the event that an exact like for like replacement is not available, we may exchange it for an item of equal or superior specification.

In the case of collections, it is understood that it is not always convenient for our customers to wait at home for the carrier company to visit, to make this easier for you we can collect the item from a nominated address. This can be a home or work address. Note that our collections are only available on a Monday - Friday 9am - 5.30pm - we are unable to offer collections or deliveries on a Saturday, Sunday or Bank Holiday.


In the event that we need to collect your item, it is imperative that you package it suitably to be transported on a carrier. For screen sizes up to 24 Inches the best way to do this is in the original box/packaging. For screen sizes of 25 to 50 inches, we would supply packaging, free of charge, to arrive with nominated carrier on the day of collection. In the case of on-site repairs for 51 inch and larger, the service agent will use their own packaging solution if required.

It is the responsibility of the customer/end user to ensure the item is suitably packaged in order that it is not damaged in transit. We are unable to entertain any claims for items damaged due to inadequate packaging. When booking a repair, you will be asked to provide pictures of your set showing that it is not damaged prior to collection.

Accessories which may become defective under warranty due to a manufacturing defect will be covered provided that the claim is valid and supported by a proof of purchase. This only applies to user accessories shown in the quick start guide.

Software updates (as applicable) ‐ All software updates must be carried out with data provided by UMC as failure to do this may result in irreparable damage to your unit. On occasion, updating software can identify other pre-existing issues that may cause your product to operate incorrectly. If you are outside of guarantee and the installation of the software causes a different issue you may be liable for a chargeable repair service.

Domestic Applicances and Audio Products
On behalf of the supplier, UMC Poland Sp. z.o.o., UMC (UK) guarantees that any domestic appliance or audio product is not defective when sold. If the product becomes defective within 12 months from your date of purchase, we will provide user guidance and operational support as necessary. Should options to resolve the customer issue be exhausted, we reserve the right to refer the customer back to their reseller for a resolution.

Software updates (as applicable) - All Software updates undertaken outside of warranty are done so at your own risk. On occasion, updating software can identify other pre-existing issues that may cause your product to operate incorrectly.

Accessories which may become defective under warranty due to a manufacturing defect will be covered provided that the claim is valid and supported by a proof of purchase. This only applies to user accessories shown in the user guide.

Terms of the Product Warranty

The manufacturers guarantee does not apply when the product is used in an incorrect, negligent, false, inadequate or abusive manner or in connection with any external devices causing damage to the product or that are incompatible with it.

In the event of malfunction or damage caused by incorrect fitting of accessories or wall mounts, these will not be covered under our guarantee. Use original screws contained within the product box, if unsure contact our helpline.

Service will be carried out under guarantee for the customer, provided the following conditions are met:

    i.   UMC or a UMC appointed service company services the product.
   ii.   The repair is booked via the UMC helpline.
  iii.   Repairs or alterations have not been performed or attempted by unauthorised personnel.
  iv.   The product is of original design and specification.
   v.   The product has been properly maintained and operated in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications.
  vi.   The product is within its stated warranty period.
  vii.   Proof of purchase is available on request.
 viii.   The fault has been caused by a genuine manufacturing defect.

Exclusions to Guarantee
The guarantee does not cover the following items; this is not a limited list. Any work carried out relating to these items will be on a chargeable basis:

    i.    Faults caused directly or indirectly by incorrect installation, maintenance or operation.
   ii.    Accidental damages, misuse, abuse or neglect.
  iii.    Alteration or repairs carried-out by person(s) not authorised by UMC.
  iv.    Periodic maintenance and repair or parts replacement due to wear and tear.
   v.    Internal cleaning and maintenance.
   vi.    Act of God, such as fire, flood, lightening etc.
  vii.    The supply of fraudulent or negligent information to the UMC help line or service company.
 viii.    Cosmetic parts, including cabinet and exterior parts.
   ix.    Cables (unless faulty-as-new).
    x.    Fuses.
   xi.    Batteries.
   xii.    Use of the product in conjunction with other products or accessories not approved by UMC.
  xiii.    Pixel failures within the specification of the product.
  xiv.    LCD panel effects or artefacts within the specification of the panel.
   xv.    Image retention issues.
  xvi.    Installation and/or decommissioning (unless otherwise stated).
 xvii.    Use of the product in a commercial environment.
xviii.    Costs relating to the removal or installation of the product.
  xix.    Unit that has not been installed in accordance with fitting instructions.

This guarantee is limited to the cost of repairing the product, to the extent permitted by law. UMC Poland Sp. z.o.o., or UMC (UK) does not accept and will not be• held liable for any financial loss incurred about the failure of any product to operate in accordance with expected standards. Such financial loss not covered by warranty include, but are not limited to:

•    Time taken off work.
•    Utility bills.
•    Damaged food, clothing or other items.
•    Damage to any allied or associated equipment.
•    General compensation for inconvenience.
•    Personal injury.

Our warranty is in addition to and does not affect your statutory rights or any other rights under legislation governing the sale of consumer goods.
